Call for Proposals – Career Coaching Monograph

The NCDA Publications Development Council (PDC) seeks a monograph proposal focused on career coaching principles and practices for an intended audience of career development practitioners including career counselors and specialists, ranging from new to seasoned professionals. Note, a monograph is approximately 100 pages in length. Examples of other NCDA published monographs are online at https://store.ncda.org/

The author of this monograph would hold career coaching credentials, understand NCDA membership/audience and NCDA ethical standards, and have insight into the differences and cross-overs between career coaching and career counseling. Extensive insight into both career coaching and career counseling practice is preferred. Proposed monograph topics would likely include but are not limited to:

  • Introduction to career coaching practice and principles, including review of current literature regarding career coaching practice as it applies to a variety of settings and its relevance in organizational settings and work with the employed
  • Outline differences between career coaching and career counseling
  • Consideration of the ethical standards of career coaching in relation to the 2015 NCDA Code of Ethics
  • Applications of a career coaching practice, to include applied models, approaches and exercises/activities for readers to implement and utilize in their practice
  • Additional coaching concepts and strategies that are beyond the training or education of career counselors and other career practitioners
  • Career coaching for different populations (addressing NCDA constituency groups - https://www.ncda.org/aws/NCDA/pt/sp/membership_groups), to include best practices, barriers/challenges, and practical applications
  • Resources for career coach credentialing:
    • New career practitioners seeking to explore career coaching models and credentialing
    • Seasoned career practitioners (including counselors) seeking to add a career coaching credential/model to their practice
  • Additional resources for continuing education and practical application in the area of career coaching

The PDC will consider proposals submitted according to the "Procedures for Submitting a Product Development Proposal" (https://ncda.org/aws/NCDA/pt/sp/about_committees - scroll down the page to click on Publications Development). NCDA does not accept published works for resale.

Proposal consideration will begin September 1, 2018.  Proposal decisions will be made by October 2018. The manuscript deadline will likely be fall 2019, and the monograph will not be published prior to 2020.
